hello there, ive heard that 4.10s should'nt do a lot of freeway. Just curious why?
If you do a lot of highway driving and or it is a daily driver I would stick with 3.73s...I roll with 4.10s but only drive my 5.0weekends etc....turns at least 3k around 70mph....

3000 rpm at 70 to slow for me i cant wait to get rid of my 4.10's
I hear ya....my old Notch I ran 3.55s and could still bury the speedo(140)...now that I am a mature mid 30 year old I would never think of such a thing!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
So does that mean you would never think of getting 4.10s or you would never think of getting anything but...?
If you look at my sig you, see I run 4.10s and that is what I want at this point in my life...I wont be doing any 140 runs anymore...
My car is a dd I have family out farther that i like taking my 5.0 to and i like to cruse on the freeway around 80 somtimes faster for a lil bit. and the 4.10's are turnin rpm's at 70 at 3000 and like 4k at 80 somthin

whats your goal? i assume dragracing seeing the gears your looking at... if ur auto go 3.90 or 4.10(not a huge differance), if manual, go 3.73... youll trap around 5500 in 4th

So really the popular consensus is that 3.73s' are the happy medium...Thats what i got but they're not installed yet. I dont really drive the car much cept for a few times to and fro work. Its about 13, 15 freeway miles away. I have an 88 gt with a stock rear end with 111k mi on it. I did a break tourqe, smoked up the street somthin good and was surprised to see only one tire mark :-/ i thought these cars came with posi?

I run 4.10's on the freeway and I get 20mpg on highway driving and anywhere from 10-18 city depending on how I'm driving. Cruising rpm at 70mph with 5 speed is around 2600rpm with a 26in tall tire.

I have 3.42's in my car and I LOVE THEM. although i do intend on going to 3.73 when my tranny gears change. Just this morning on mycommute to school my stang hit 135 mph at only about 3800 rpms(relatively quickly too, even while hauling a passenger and over 100lbs in books, cooler, etc.).Also, my 3.42s let me run 14.402 at the drag strip on street tires, thats with over .5 second reaction time, the car basically did 13.9 for those can do math. (Just UD pulleys and timing bump).
