intake leak?
ok so ever since i too the upper manifold off my car idels kinda higher than normal.. it used to be around like 900.. but its like that when its cold but when it warms up it like to sit around 1250.. when i initially put it back on i just kinda tightened them down (no specific torque) ya i kno that was prob my problem.. but then i loosened them and set them at 17lbs but still the same.. is there a specific way to tighten them, like a pattern or someting.. and yes i did use a new felpro gasket when i reinstalled it... should i go out and buy annother gasket?
also my throttle cable seems to like get caught or something when i first start to apply pressure to the pedel but works fine after the initial movement.. but this happens after i give it an adequate amount of gas. like 3/4 down. and then ill open the hood and jiggle the end where it attaches to the TB and pushj it full open and then it will be easy to use... until i give it a lot of gas again.. any suggestions on this?

RE: intake leak?
Start in the middle and work your way out with torquing crisscross pattern and if you didn't try and adjust your idle speed or tps then it should be fine I'd check for vaccum leaks...you did replace the gasket and not reuse the old one right??

Sounds like when you put it back together, something got bound up in your throttle linkage. If it is sticky, ornot operating smoothly, that may very well be causing your high idle problem. Disconnect the cable end from the TB and see if the binding is in the cable or the TB.

RE: intake leak?
did you mess with the idle position screw on the tb?
i did and the throttle "stuck", but only when i first applied pressure to the pedal. so i turned the idle set screw clockwise or in until it stopped doing that. i'm not sure why it sticks when the screw is out too far, but it does. see if that helps...

RE: intake leak?
ok well ill check the linkage. i did have a tough time putting the screws back into the tb for the bracket that held the cable...
i did use a new gasket.. but will i be able to loosen it and re torqu everything w/o havin to replace the gasket again?
i did not touch the idle screw.. but i did adjust the tps but that was after this started.. it was at 1.1v but i set it to .99v and set the timing to 12* but that was all after this problem..
