Default f..ked up clutch

my clutch i think is all messed up... well i hope its the clutch and not the whole tranny. when i put it in reverse its starts to grind really bad and doesnt always go in. Also when im on the clutch pedal it makes some sort of noise. i heard that the tranny isnt the best in these 5.0 that they dont last to long... any help would be very appreciated.

If it shifts fine in all the forward gears then the problem is most likely in the tranny.

clutch cable making noise could be a binding cable and or bad throwout bearing depending on the type of noise you hear.

^+1 (sorry) Sounds like tranny problems. If it were clutch related, it wouldn't do it just in reverse. Some of it may be throw out bearing, it it makes a noise when you are pushing on the clutch, but that wouldn't explain thegrinding in reverse. Pull the drain plug on the tranny and check the oil for shavings, or foreign material, that will tell you for sure if something is wrong inside.

All depends on what you are running and how you are running it.

well a rebuilt one would be much cheaper...of course an aftermarket stronger than stock transmission would be a good investment if you have the money

Theres no syncro for reverse. It is normal to grind going into reverse, try putting it in first then back into reverse.

Did you mean the grinding occurs when you are shifting into reverse, oronce it is in reverse there is grinding? Maybe I misunderstood your posted question
