Default clunky noise.

ok i've been trying to figure this out for ....a day or so now. i turn on the car. no noise at all. if i put the car in N position and let the car roll. no noise. if i put it in 1st and begin to drive off i get this clunk clunk clunk clunk clunk. but its only when i first take off. once i get to about 1200-1500 rpm the noise is gone. so i thought it was the drive shaft knockin on the mufflers but its not. they're close together but no that close. i shook the exhaust around, nothin bangin around.....i'm at a loss. any suggestions?

Have you replaced your u-joints lately? Just a thought.

ummm. nope.

does that make a clunky noise? maybe they got damaged at one point. when i was put on the sub frame connected and putting the exhaust back on i realized that my drive shaft bolts....all 4 ....were finger tight if even that.

They can make a noise similarif the needle bearings are shot, & allows slop in the joint. The 4 bolts also can allow that noise to be resident. Put some thread lock on those 4 bolts before you install them. That helps them from backing out also.

Get under the car, and move the driveshaft around vs the yolk or the diff, and see if there's any play in the joint, you'll feel or hear what you can't see. There should be no play at all in the joints
