We are installing a 5-spdtransmission into a 89 5.0 stang. We are having problems gettting it to line up tho. The input shaft in particular is whats giving us trouble, we cant get it lined up.

u may have moved the clutch disc funny, do u have line up tool? make sure the disc is lined up

I know when we did my tko, we had to engage the clutch to get it in the last 1/2 inch or so.

When I did my clutch it didn't go in the first time around....had to take it out and then it slipped in the second time with no problems. I suggest you try the same.

In addition to all the other tips provided, one time I peened the edge of the pilot bushing over, very slightly, when installing it and the input shaft wouldn't go in. So... If you can see it, you might want to check it out.
