Default Boring out a 302 questions

Hey fellas,

I have a question i blew the hell out of the bottom end of my last 302 at the front bottom of the block ouch sucked.. Well I bought a used block tore it down and noticed a tiny tiny nick in the #4 cylinder I'm wondering what is the case with boring out. pretty much if there is any flaws you should bore the cylinders out correct? I just dont know if i can get away with not boring, probably dont wanna take the chance huh, Let me know your thoughts.

Thanks.. I'm thinking .30 over like all 302's with some new domed forged pistons for some high compression , im trying to stay NA....

i would bore it 30 over. and if you plan to buy new pistons (which you have to if you bore it) talk to fullauto on this forum. i has stroker kits for about $800. you might as well spend a few extra bux and get a lot more cubes. his kits include bearings and rings as well.

I wouldn't waste your money boring it out for a small scratch probably due to a ring gouging it slightly......I've built tons of scuff and dip motors as I call them by honeing the cylinder walls with a berry hone and installing moly rings...The motors I've done the least too have lasted the longest....I built one for a customer who has it in a high 12 sec cougar and they have over 250 passes on the bottom end that I scuffed and dipped for them doesn't burn oil or use it either and the compression is excellent and that motor came out of a 100k grand marquis

Yea the nic is super small, maybe I'll just try giving it a hone and see if it cleans up up better... I have never honed any motors before I heard bottle honeing is the easyest or should I let a machine shop do it? Any suggestions?

Hone time.
Find some course stones and then go to the fine ones.
I've always prefered a 3 stone type hone.
Old school I guess...........
