right on right on, but what im saying is that if right now you cant afford it later on when you can you will buy it, so just right now get all the supporting mods good to go and then when you get some cash go for it, exactly what i did andfinishing my h/c/i hopfully this weekend

The $ is not the issue, its spending it. I am in college right now, so I think it would be wise to wait 3 more year until I pull out all of the stops. Maybe a used 94-95 Cobra Manifold, new GT-40X head with some sort of streetable cam, and all fuel/ignition system componets needed. Or even better that on top 347 CI.

with timing advanced, full exhaust you might see 20 hp. the pinging is from your timing, check to make sure your at 10 and work it up from there. sounds like your pretty firm on not doing h/c/i. so i say, full exhaust, gears, timing and maybe pullies or something. otherwise concentrate on suspension suspension suspension!!!! its very important and you'll have a very noticable gain. tires, sub frame connectors, u/l control arms just as a starting point. you'll never regret it and that stuff is cheap.
