Default aod to t-5/t-56 conversion

I want to change my vert into a 5 speed, i dont know everything that has to be done, i dont know how to install it and the cost of everything. Would i be better off selling mine and buying a stick vert instead?

heres steps on how to remove your aod:

http://www.veryuseful.com/mustang/te...ODRemoval.html

Iuse to have step by step directions on doing an aod to t5 swap but he link doesnt work anymore.
IfI remember right though you need, t5 tranny, bellhousing, crossmember(stock will work with modification), speedo gear, clutch pressure plate, flywheel, back up harness, pedals, nuetral safety switch, throw out bearing, shifter, shifter boot and plate and i beleive thats it but i could be forgetting something. Its not a hard swap if you have the time and alittle automotive knowledge. Removing your aod is simple and shouldnt take more than 2 hours with hand tools. I just did it 2 days ago. You can find all the parts needed to swap it over to a t5 anywhere from $500-$1500 depending on where you get them and how good of shape everything is in. I know there are some foxbody junk yard sites where they will sell you everything used and can even upgrade some parts to brand new oemor aftermarketAnd you might as well replace your rear main seal while you got the tranny out. You can buy a full tko600 swap kit bran new off ebay with all new parts from a company called amp performance. They are good parts too. Heres the ebay link http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/79-95...mZ260137208708. Im not sure what it takes to swap to a t56. I think its just a different bell housing, tranny crossmember and driveshaft. But the t56 is gonna be the most expensive swap but that tranny is almost indestructable. Hope this helps alittle.

they have a complete kit for a t56 conversion on your car including bellhousing, crossmember, longer speedo cable, and correct driveshaft. i think this is gonna be my next winter project.

If its a street/strip car, keep the AOD. Rebuild it with a shift kit, 3000 stall, and some 4.10s. You'll be faster than a 5-speed as well as more consistant.
