One leak stops and another starts.

One leak stops and another starts.
So I went to the track today, car ran great but I knew it'd wreak some kind of revenge on me, well here it is:
It's no longer leaking and it originated from the bellhousing area. The car is parked on a slight incline so it ran down some. It's not coolant...I dabbed it up with a paper towel and smelled it...it smelled kind of like oil but a little off. I have GM Synchromesh synthetic fluid in my trans which is also brown. Oil level is fine. I'm looking for any suggestions of possible sources of the leak to look for. So far I'm thinking the input shaft seal of the trans, rear main, valve covers (which I think it unlikely), and the intake manifold (which I also think is unlikely). Thanks all.

looks to me like the oil filter area is damn wet. i'd start looking there.
