Default gt40p headers

hey you guys, i spend most of my time in the classic section but most of those guys are all about keepin stock. i have a 65 mustang that is lightly modded and im lookin for some heads. i found these gt40ps for 600 bucks a pair: http://www.tristatecylinderhead.com/...products_id=40
but they need special headers! i figured more of you fox guys would have these heads than anyone else, so can anyone hook me up with a link or someway to find the right headers? right now i have patriot tri y long tubes, but im pretty sure they wont work with these gt40ps, thanks guys!

Not sure how these would sit in your 65, but these are the ones you need.

I think it has also been said the BBK shorties work as well.

I have bbk longtubes which have alright clearance on the passenger side but on the driver side I have to use ls1 header sockets to change the spark plugs. I had to get fancy wire looms from summit to keep the wires from touching the headers too since the plugs come really close to the headers.

Also I think $600 is a lot for gt40p's. I'd honestly find a set of aluminums used or save upfor a new set of aluminums. If I did it over again I would have never gotten gt40p's.

why would you not get the gt40ps? i have a chance to get them and the intake and am considering it. is it just the header problems?

I just don't think they are worth the header problems and performance gains you get. I could probably get close to another 20-30hp at the wheels with a decent set of aluminum heads. If I would have save my money a little longer it would have been worth it in the long run.

some of you may not know EoC, but hes about to be driving a s/c'd S197 shelby - so its not like he's gonna be lacking in the speed dept

seriously though, for 598.00 you cannot find a better set of heads. its not that they are GT40p's, but that they come with 1.94/1.54 stainless valves and stiffer springs for that price. you would more buying a set from the junk yard and having the machine work done, so yeah - its a good deal..... not to mention on his 289 with a mild intake and such anything TOO much bigger would start to become overkill. personally i wouldnt go over AFR 165's or Canfield 170's (but again, buku bucks)

btw i'd like to think those shorties would fit without a problem but damn it man i know if it were me i would hold out for a set of long tubes that would work. hell, your tri-y's you already have may work - even if you had to dimple them a bit who cares

yes you can use BBK unequal shorties with the p's. VigCS has them on his car. i believe he said that all he had to do was switch the #7 plug wire with the one that goes to the coil..
