ok, looking into the typhoon intake thats identical to the performer on blueovalindustries, i was wondering what the rpm range was for it, i was told 1500 and up, is that the same as the stock one, and am i going to miss the lack of band from idle to 1500

If you dont have heads and cam that intake will probably slow you down. My buddy had a stock stang,MA,TB,LT headers. Ran a 13.98. Installed a performer RPM 2 and could not go faster than 14.4 after several times at the track.

The performer will raise your power band some, but it doesnt kill bottem end too bad and you will actually be able to rev past 5000 and get a little more power. Its designed off the origonal Edelbrock Performer intake not the rpm serise which have a higher power band.

well im going to be taking my car to an oval track race, its a short track, 1/4 mile and only two laps and with my style driving im more interested in acceleration, i was just wondering if the typhoon would hurt my initial take off, exspecially since im still running 2.83 gears

would i be better off with the cobra, i know either way i have to go with the polished version because of pour casting

Typhoon will outperform most intakes except for some holleys, the rpm serise edelbrocks, and the upper level TFS inakes. It will hurt your lower performance a bit but the gain in upper rpm will at least make up for the loss in lower. And with either typhoon your going to want to do some gasket and port matching whether or not you go with the polished or satin its still going to have some poor casting.

aggreed on the poor casting. little rough. the overall design of it and bolts and allignment is all correct. but just the interal ports arent cleaned up. but deff. worth the 200 bucks you save off the eddy. nothin you cant clean up with the dremel. but i did notice a big diff between the eddy phenolic spacer and the typhoons ports. eddy's are huge! so i'm actually going to take it to a shop and have it machined for 40 bucks. and get some port matching after i get my heads for another50bucks

If you dont have heads, leave the intake alone and keep saving.

well i figure do the intake now, heads later, im a college kid and moneys influx is unpredictable, so my daily driver mustang is part by park and cant be off the road for more then a few hours at a time....
if i loose the low end with this intake would some 3.23 gears make up with it or would i have to do 3.73s

I installed a used original 94/95 Cobra intake on my car and made some decent gains with it, the car feels like it has more torqueand pulls all the way to 5500 rpms now. My 95 had the restrictive t-bird intake on it from the factory so I don't know if that made a difference or not with my nicegains.

your worried the intake doesnt make power below 1500?? what the hell is wrong with you? when the hell will you ever be below 1500 except for when your idling?
