Front clip removal?????'s
This will probably sound stupid... but.
I was getting ready to start taking my front clip off of my '85 GT. The front nose looks like it's riveted to the header panel for the headlights. Do I have to remove the whole panel that the lights are in? Or do I drill out the rivets?
My nose piece is busted up pretty good. So all I really need off is it and the fenders. To start working on fixing the body and prepping for paint. I've got the back all done except I need to find a panel to weld in under my quarter glass. Hopefully I'll get it all painted before this winter.

yeah, you can either drill out those rivets OR you can unbolt it with the header panel. it would probably be easier to drill out the rivets just to save the hassle of bolting that header panel back in (which isnt hard at all, i think its 2 bolts if its the same as the 87-93). but id go with drilling out the rivets and pulling the front bumper WITH the fenders still all in one piece and put them back on the same way, everything lines up easier this way. good luck!

Yeah.. Leaving the fender and nose together sounds like a good idea. I've never really took a complete clip off of a car(So it's new to me). I've taken individual parts off before... just not all at the same time.
I might have to put an lx bumper back on though. I'm having a hard time finding a GT bumper in good shape. To bad I can't keep the four-eyes and get a lower ground effects bumper to cover up the damage to mine. Oh, well. Gotta pay to play.
