well my timing is at 14 i always put 93 in it my o2 sensors are in my long tube headers my father told me my egr isnt kicking inwen i mean i get on it it denates like around 4 grand thats like racing it

I imagine the O2 sensors aren't working properly anyway. And even if they were connected right, there may be some closed loop / driveability issues due to the exhaust pulse delay (because the O2 sensors are further away than they are normally.)

Are you sure it's detonation or could it be preignition? Are you running high compression or something? For now, I'd run some seafoam through the car totry to clean any carbon out that may be creating hot spots or raising compression. Check your plugs too to make sure they're okay. And finally retard the timing a few degrees to see if any of that helps.

And the EGR shouldn't be a major problem. Hell, most people here completely remove it anyway. If it's not working properly just take it off, unless you really want a new one.

well i bought the car and got a buddy of mine to redo the heads and put in new plugs and whole new gaskets and the whole nine yards it idles to a grand then dropps to five hundred and goes back up to 1g the repeats then eventually stalls o2 sensors looks good

Can't remember if you said you pulled codes or not. I'm trying to figure out how and why the ground was cut. Any vacuum leaks? I still say you should also test your fuel pressure and your vacuum at idle.

Screw the scanner. Pull the codes using the MacGyver Multi-tool!



Here's how you can do it using your Check Engile Light and a simple wire or paperclip.
