is downshifting good or bad, ive heard alot of different stories that if you rev match it you can downshift or that its just bad cuz it messes up your tranny or stuff

downshift to what..stop at a light? or to stomp on it? it's bad if your up in rpms and them downshift unless your floor it..

Areyou talking about downshifting to slow down? I would rather wear out my brakes than put added stress on drivetrain.

As long as it's a smooth transition there nothing wrong with doing it in IMO, I've been ding it for years.

downshift to whip around corners....

downshifting is something you use for extreme breaking or emergencies. engine speed helps slow the car with adding load along with add breaking presure = faster stopping. its also a trucker thing because they have a huuuggggeeee azz load most of the time and downshifting is easier and saves their breaks and it slows their load faster than breaks would.

i admit though, i do it to sometimes when slowing down. i do more often in the mustang than my truck.....mustang just sounds kooler!

Yea i always downshift and my tranny is fine. Just dont do it if the car is in high rpms. let it drop and then everything should be fine.
