Ok yesterday when I was driving home the fuel gauge just started going up slowly until it hit full..when I turn the ignition on it goes down about 1/4 and goes right back up..it had a little less than a half tankwhen it did this. also a few days ago I ran out of gas but the gauge read 1/4 left..anyone know what the problem could be??

im gonna go with bad ground, check your grounds and if thats not the problem then it could be the unit

either the fuel sending unit, or anti slosh module

My black car did the same and the floater was old....Bought a new fuel sending unit and fixed the problem... i say your sending unit...
