Some people get away with it just fine.....but if you plan on racing it I'd do a 7 qt that's what I did with mine is added a 7 qt moroso pan....with the stock pan you may have to clearence the pan for a hv pump... ball pean hammer usually does the trick

I just did a Moroso 7qt oil pan with a Miloden HV oil pump and a arp shaft... very easy swap, btw, i would also recommend arp oil pan stude. have fun trying to hook up a new dipstick

A high volume pump just has a larger pump body, so it's CAPABLE of flowing a greater volume in the same time, but that doesn't mean it will. The pump will only move as much oil as the resistances from the bearing clearances will allow based on the pressure setting. That being said, you're better off regardless running a larger capacity pan with baffles, to make sure the pickup doesn't go dry under hard acceleration/breaking/cornering.

WRONG!!!! The pump does and will pump at higher volumes other than a stock pump, reguardless of the bearing clearances. What about the valve train and camshaft? is there not oil consistantly pumping through the push rods and lifters? A high volume pump will pump a stock pan dry at 6-7k rpms, you need a moroso, crane, or other 7qt pan.
