ya ive checked the wire and it touches the motor mount but does not have a hole in it to ground it. and i have not changed the wire.

you need a new ground wire, replace it and run direct to battery or ac bracket bolt,. $12

when you wiggle the big ground wire, it will start

when you take it off, you will notice alot of white corrosion and bluish green residue, along with a tainted color copper

which ground wire are you talking about? the engine ground, starter ground, or battery ground. i have new battery and engine grounds. the battery is also in the trunk on my car.

and im sure that it is the starter smoking because there is smoke coming out of the bellhousing.

Hit the starter solenoid then try starting it I had to do it atleast 10 times on my grand am.
