check for any loose connections.....it could be a bad starter again ...rebuilt ones sometimes are junk right out of the box and or only last a little while

The starter wire will run to your seliniod, check your noid and the ground wire runnin to your noid. I am not sure how to spell that word correctly, so from now on it is a noid.

RE: r?stuck at work help!!!
did you change your starter wire from starter to the "noid"
if you did sometimes aftermarket kit wires are actually bigger than stock especially universal wires for todays standards are bigger than they were in the 80's and 90's. in saying that if you upgraded the power wire you need to make sure your ground is equal the gauge if not bigger. i always recomend bigger grounding.....that is a massively overlooked issue when people start doing their own wiring, big power, not enough ground.

Are you sure its the starter smoking? It may be the power lead to the starter grounding out somewhere. Check the whole length of the wire and make sure it isn't touching headers, h-pipe, or anything elce that may cause it to be a direct ground.
