Default Budget build in the making

Well to start off I recently aquired a 90 GT for $170(cheap I know) and I figured I would mod that car instead of continuing on my New Edge. Well the previous owner stated that the heads were ****ed up so I figured why not upgrade it and turn the car into a budget dragster. I already have some drag radials and a 100 shot off my 02 so I have that part covered. What I'm wondering is what are some decent heads for the car and a cam. I would like to keep the heads/cam under $1000(if that even is possible at all but I am willing to spend more if I need to). I've heard some mention of the GT40 heads off the Explorers but would like some more information on that. Also any suggestions on a cam would be nice(this will not be a daily driver so don't worry too much on that, also it sounds "ricey" would I would like to have a fairly aggresive idle lol)

Well heads of explorers the gt40ps which are on 97 and half later explorers are the ones you want. Like gt40s that are on the 5.0 cobras just with smaller chambers with higher compression and you need different headers for them.Intakes arent bad off them either but you cant use the upper, you can find used gt40 intakes all overo n ebay though. As for a cam if your keeping it cheap and want a good lope then an alphabet cam would be the way to go. There under 200 brand new and the f will give you a real mean lope and good performance for the money.

for your budget, definately the GT40P's from tristatecylinderheads (600 bucks with big valves and stiff springs). toss on a gt40 intake from the junk yard, and add your run of the mill E303/TFS Stg 1/etc cam, and blammo..... you have pretty much the same car as 1/2 the other stangs at the track[8D]

Afr heads and a cam will cost more than 1500, and you got to add in all the extras wouldnt really be a budget build then
