$8,000 to $10,000 to spend max-engine
Ok, so I decided that I'm gonna just give in and get a new set up for my car, but I need advice on what to get. I got 8-10K that I can spend on whatever. My goal is to have a car that will drive smoothly and be reliable, but also have *****. It won't be a daily driver, but I need it to drive like one, since I might drive it often. Right now it drives like *** since there is something wrong internally. So, If it runs like a 12 second quarter, I'll be more than happy. I was thinking maybe a 331 with a blower, but then I thought that I might want a turbo instead. I can use the parts in my sig, but will change them if needed. I know I have to change th fuel pump, injectors and MAF and all that, but if I can run a decent combo with my same heads and intake manifold, I will. They only have like 1000 miles on them. I want to hear some ideas before I make a purchase. I will have a shop do the work since I dont have the tools. I also know I will have to change my rear end gears. Maybe 3.27's or 3.55's. I need to use the freeway a lot. Anyways, any ideas would be great.

good 306 shortblock rebuild with forged internals and 9-1 compression
use same heads
use same intake
new custom ed curtis turbo cam
Quick time turbo systems kit and run 15psi
3.55 gears, or maybe 3.73's
You'll be pushing 500rwhp
Think about spending left over money on stuff like trans or chasis/suspension

adder thats my plan iam building up... dart block with a 4.125 bore, crank for a 408( the extra .125 inches makes 427cu just a little shorter stroke to increase redline a bit) chi 3v 276cc heads, chi 3v intake, forged dish pistons, forged h beam rods, long duration/lift custom ground cam, f-2 procharger pullied to max s/c impeller speed at 7800 rpm, meth injection, intercooler, and crossing my fingers i can get it to run on 93 octane with that much boost. looking to lay down 1200-1400 rwhp at around 7-7.2k rpm backed by a t-56 viper spec, 4.10's, and 35 spline axels.

wish I had that to spend on mine right now!!! a well built and tuned 331 or 347 will get you into the 12's no problem......if you want a supercharged application a mild 302 and a supercharger will hit 12's no problem too.......but if you want to shoot for 11's go a 347 and supercharge it and how deep you go will depend on how much boost you can throw to it based on the compression you choose for your motor......and yes for all the supercharger guys I know with a methanol/water injection and intercooling will reduce combustion chamber temps making compression/resultant detonation partially null and void......so no need to blast me on that!!

With what you already have and a budget like that 12's is laughable. Toss a blower on there and you'll already be there, that's maybe $3500 with a tune. Put some cash into your suspension and tires, and if you really want to get on your car's good side a new trans. You'll be past 12's easy and you won't touch 8 grand
My vote would be CHP 347 shortblock with the rest of your trash back on it, turbo, trans, tires, and suspension. Bit more expensive and quite a bit faster, but that just means more fun
