Default maf comp doesnt do anything??

i have an 88 lx. it was a 4cyl conversion. it has a 95 bottom end, stock heads, typhoon intake throttle body (not sure of size), and theres a mass air conversion on it. as of right now the car is running great with the s/d computer, i unhooked the mass air wire from the other computer and nothing changed, so its not even using mass air. i tried switching back to the mass comp. and it ran like **** but i forgot to plug the map sensor though so i think im gonna retry that. but does anyone have any ideas right now?

first make sure all conections are secure and not just taped/spliced in....solder is best way and hook it back up and run it and see if it runs okay

i have check that only because when i bought the car i saw all the wiring looked old. the maf conversion is the one from ford motorsports that has a 4 wire connector but its a single plug that adapts into the computer.

dont know i guess i dont want to deal with the wiring and efi. it is a daily driver though. i dont mind the quirks of a carb setup.

You will have alot less quirks with carb. I have owned both fi and carb. The carbed car i have now though is not my daily driver.

well i dont plan on making it to much more radical maybe just an e or f cam and the carb set up. ill get heads later when i can afford them. or ill wait and do heads and cam at once.the car smells like its just spitting raw fuel out the exhaust and i think its cuz the air isnt being metered, i just want to stop that really. any clues?

You could have an injector hung open. I am sure the efi guru's on this site will have some good input. My 93 f-250 was actually spitting fuel out of the exhaust. You could put your hand in front of the tail pipe and black stuff was spraying on my hand, it was raw fuel mixed with exhaust carbon. I did a compression check and found i had lost number 6 and 8 cyl. I had zero compression. I took the valve cover off to make sure the springs had not broke, they hadnt. So the only other reasons i could think of was maybe the valve hung open which in turn, my piston would be smacking it or broke rods. I figured it would be more cost effective to get a reman. engine for $1100 with a 3 year unlimited mileage warrany and free shipping for the engine and my core.
I forgot. I do have a new f-cam if interested.
