Default 3.73 or 4.10 Mixed Opinions Im confused

I got a 94 gt. I had a ASE certified tech tell me to go with 4.10s and nothing else even with it being my daily driver he said on highway ill be pushing 2300 to 2400 rpms @ 70mph or so. I had other people in gear posts saying that a 4.10 is too much and to stick with 3.73. I have a 5 speed its not an auto what would some of you mustang pros think because as much as the tech might know nothing compares to first hand experience. Remember it is my DD so i dont want to be pulling ridiculous RPMs at highway speeds. Also I heard 4.10s will overheat my tranny. Just wanted to get some input. Thanks in advanced.

I have 3.73's and it is a good highway gear. I run around 2800 at 80mph.

I have a 95gt with alot of goodies. I'm all natural 302 with a top end package. I have 3.55 in the rearend and they work wonderful. Also mine is a five speed too. My car launches great and still have plenty of gear left when i'm on the highway. I have a cousin who has 3.73's andwish he would have went with 3.55 also. He has the trick flow top end package on his 93lx. First gear on his stang is so short you might as well start out in second. (lol) Anyways, if its a DD go with the 3.55. If it was a weekend car I would say the 3.73 and save on gas.[X(]

I have 4.10's with my car, get 22mpg still highway with my mile hci and 4.10's. At 70mph with a 26in tire I'm at about 2600rpm which really isn't that high.

A guy I know has 4.10's with a 5 speed and he says first gear is useless and he only has it in first for a few seconds.
His car is blown though.

your ASE certified tech is a friggin idiot.

and just because he has a certification, doesnt mean ****... any ******* can pass a test, but it takes knowledge and a brain to have a clue about proper drivetrain operation.

with 4.10 gears, and a stock diameter tire (25.6") you would turn between 2600-2800 RPM's at 70-75mph.. not 2300-2400

I would personally never push DD 5 speed past 3.73's. ONLY 4.10's if you dragrace the ***** out of the car..

but if you use it for around town commuting and the OCCASIONAL jaunt on the gas.. 3.55 would be perfect for ya
