Methanol Injection?

Methanol Injection?
I must have been living under a rock because I just heard about this system. Is this a expensive item? Wouldn't trying to burn a liquid combination which consisted of water be bad for your engine? It's all new to me and sounds a little scary. Has this Meth system been around for a while? If anyone has it, please tell me about your experiences. Hard to install? Possible problems? I live in Tn so getting the right fluid shouldn't be a problem. I'm starting to put my engine back together this week. This could be something I would like to add. Any help would be appreciated!

RE: Methanol Injection?
if your motor isnt sc or turbo'd its a waste of money. the main reason for running meth is to cool down the hot air coming from the sc or turbo. they add about 50rwhp depending on the setup. i had a meth kit on my last motor and it worked really well

+1, water/meth does not make power in itself.
it allows for more boost or more timing under boost due to the cooling effect of the water evaporating
and octane boost from the methanol.
You dont burn the water, it evaporates in the intake and cools the incoming air.
Water/meth injection was used extensively on WWII fighter planes with super chargers also.
really old technology.
You can also use plain old windshield washer fluid as your water/meth liquid too.

RE: Methanol Injection?
I guess I'll add my 2 cents although they already just said everything there is to be said about it. I run methanol injection myself and it kicks ***. But it's useless without forced induction. Think of it as a chemical intercooler instead of an air-to-air or air-to-water intercooler.
As for the rpice... they can range from $170 - $500+ new depending on what kit you get, etc.
