The Tremec is a far supeior product, however if you are light on mods then save your money for now. The B/W T-5 is a great tranny up to 400hp or so.

A Borg warner t-5 vs a tremec t-5 ...well throughout the years the t-5's torque ratings changed from 265 to eventually 300 ft lbs with the cobra in 93 sporting upgraded blocker rings ., steel input shaft retainer and front pocket roller bearing instead of the tapered bearings but even so in later years tremec purchased the borg warner division/name and started branding t-5's with their logo....later 90-93 I believe t-5's were rated at 300 ft lbs the better stronger ones to have.

basically they are the same, but at the same time they are not. On your 82, (if i is the original tranny) it is not a World Class, the later ones are. There are some differences between the two, but id have to look up what they are..

There's a company called G-Force that sells an upgrade kit for T-5's, some new gear clusters and shafts etc with higher grade materials, brings the power rating of a T-5 up to that of a Tremec, might wanna look into that since it may be cheaper than buying a whole new transmission
