Default AFR Heads - FelPro Gaskets

Dilemna...

On the web page for AFR 185s it says to use the 1011-1 head gaskets

Check it out:
[blockquote]
http://airflowresearch.com/185sbf_sh.php[/blockquote]
Then i found somthing on the AFR website that was in instruction manual on how to install the heads:
[blockquote]
http://airflowresearch.com/sbf_install.php[/blockquote]
and about head gaskets it said:
[blockquote]
"Use Fel-Pro #1011-1 for years 1962 - 82 for 1983 - 1995 Fel-Pro #1011-2"[/blockquote]
I have a 94 and read the first webpage at first and bought the 1011-1 then read the installation instructions, ERrrrrrr... What do you guys and gals think?

Well, the only differences that i can see are the compressed thickness and the 1s have a steel ring and the 2s have a copper ring. If you can exchange them for the 2's i'd do it, but if not i wouldnt sweat it and just use them...

Yeah, the copper doesn't dig into the aluminum heads like a steel ring can. Use the copper

I really have no idea, but why would AFR recommend the steel ring if it was going to damage their heads? Why would the year make any difference?

i ran the 1011-1 gasket on my aluminum heads. they dont do jack to your heads. no marks, no damage, nothing. the steel ring is better for high compression, boost or juice. i had a sc at the time
