fuel guage problem

RE: fuel guage problem
hmm...
A fuel level sending unit is a variable resister with a float arm. Your gas needle is like an analog voltmeter. When the tank is full, there is the most current, and resistance increases as your fuel level falls.
So, with that being said, the float arm could have broken off. overfill and the float arm spun around backwards??? Knocked the connector loose on a bump? Or it just plain went out. I guess i'd look at connector first and see if there is voltage. If there is, then, guage. If not, then sender.
