gas in oil?
Ok so i've noticed the smell of gasoline in my oil... i've been smelling it for a while now (as in since i've had the car, a year or so)
but i still change the oil at regular intervals, 2500-3000 miles.
i'm pretty sure it's blow by since the engine has almost 195,000 miles on it. i actually don't know what else it would be...
anyways, i was reading an article on how bad gas is for oil, etc, etc. and now i'm wondering if there is anything i can do to stop the gas from getting in the oil. besides replacing the piston rings. i don't have money for that.
do any of those additives that claim to restore compression actually work? any ideas?
thanks!

RE: gas in oil?
I've had some pretty high mileage stuff.
My truck has over 500,000km's and had a Mustang with almost 300,000kms. Neither have/had gas smell in the oil.
The Mustang was also comsuming the oil at 1L / 1000kms.
Still no smell in the oil.
Make sure you don't have a leaking injector or something like that before you rip the engine out to rebuild it.
