Default 351w iron heads

so i want to suprise the hell out of my chevy friends with a sleeper engine, i was thinking about building a 347 and using 351 heads and porting them, do you guys know of a good place to go through to have them ported? also how much could a set of ported 351 heads support and would this be a good rought to follow

if your going to build a 347, and slap those heads on. DON"T. jsut get a set of aftermarktet heads.

well i was just thinking that since the 351w head flow pretty well, that porting them will make them flow better and since they are iron they will loook stock

what year heads are you taling about. the 69-79 heads?? if the 69-70 heads ihave seen a set ported and build flow 230@.550 lift. but other than those years they are not really worth it.

ya that is the only year head that i hear good things about, but should i just go with a good set of aftermarket heads? i just want everyone to be surprised

aftermarket heads be more surprising, when racing. they will cheap better i nthe long run if you can afford them. Especially with a nice build 347. That sounds like a ncie build up man, good luck.

thanks for the info and support. would CHS be a good company for the short block? then i was thinking if i do go aluminum heads that i would do a set of Dart pro 1's and get a cam and intake to match, any thoughts on that combo (its going to be kept efi)

idealy i am looking for 450hp and similar torque. then i plan on putting a little juice in it in the future. the car will be a weekend warrior/summer toy. Not fully streetable but still driveable
