Default junkyard 5.0

I'm going to be keeping my eyes open for a good base 5.0 to work with. If you had to go out to a 'yard tomorrow to pick one up, what would your #1 choice be?

Thanks!

+1, or a coupe. Check for rust behind the driver's windows too. Make sure it isn't eaten through, because that's no fun.

Are you talking about a whole car or just the motor.

Sorry about that...I should've specified. I'm referring to a good 5.0 motor. Which was the best off-the-production-line 5.0? I don't imagine I'll find any cobras or anything like that. I thought I read somewhere that the late '90's Explorers were good 5.0's because of the GT40 components. Is that true?

I would look for a Lincoln, Mercury or even a Crown Victoria.
Same basic motor and you probably want to go 'H/C/I/' anyway.
My thinking is that there isn't as much demand for those engines and you may get one a little cheaper.
Also, Peeps with Lincolns and the bigger cars are usually those peeps that take care of there cars a little better like changing oil etc so the wear may not be as great......

crown vics, thunderbirds, cougars, and mark vii's because they are usually beat on less than mustangs and its basically the same shortblock.
