Hmmm i remember I had this problem before (well not ME exactly) dont remember how I fixed it though, it was like 4 years ago[&:] it turned out to be something along the wiring around the coil

No spark, possibly the ignition module or the pick up coil in the distributor

It could be a bad ground or fusible link, see if you can google a wire diagram for your car and trace the wires.

If you got water everywhere, check the distributor. Dont know if the 86 uses the same horseshoe for the coil, but mine had a wire break in it. Pretty common.

Wiring diagram fig 28 is the one you want

cool, ok theres no spark coming "from" the coil.
if the tvi is bad will that cause an imcomplete circuit to the coil?
if the ecu is bad will that cause the same thing?

negative on the lincoln dizzy.
you only need to replace the TFI.

both the original coil and dizzy was bad! i bought 2 dizzys just to be safe, less trips to the boneyard. not sure i have the timing where i want it motor is running funny, i suspect a vacum leak or bad iac. did a motor flush, waiting for my friend to come back with a magnetic drain plug. then im putting in full synthetic. hopefully this will help my ignorant actions of porting the heads like a dumas.
