Default Warm Pinging

Hey gang,

I bumped my timing the other day. It started out at about 8 and I was able to get it up to 11 without pinging on the test drive. It has been fine since with heavy acceleration, until this weekend when I used it to go on a 2.5 hour drive to my grandparents. Toward the end of the trip (while the engine was good and warm), it would occasionally ping when accelerating heavily, but not always. I run the highest octaine fuel when I stop to get gas, so it's always between 91 and 93 octane. I was just curious if anyone else has experienced this, if it is comon, and if it is a huge deal. If need be, I can always put it back to 8, but like most people I enjoy the added throttle response it gives.

Thanks for any input.

If it keeps up, take a degree out.....you will be alright if doesn't do it ofton. I have mine at 14* without detonation.

Try running some seafoam. If you have a lot of carbon buildup, then it can increase pressure and cause some detonation. It's fairly cheap and may help you out. Either that or take a degre of timing out. But it shouldn't be pinging at such low levels.

I'm assuming your N/A?

Correct. Only "mods" are timing and silencer removal w/ K&N.

I'll run the Sea Foam, since I haven't done it to this vehicle yet. Couldn't hurt. Otherwise I realize mybest option is to just take it back a degree. I just wanted to see if anyone has experienced this before.

Thanks for the input.
