Default new pistons

i want to take my 306 apart and put some pistons with alittle more compression in. i have edelbrock performer rpm cyclinder heads with 60cc chambers and 1.90 intake and 1.60 exhaust. what should i get for pistons that i can run atleast 11 to 1 for compression. i want to get the most out of this motor i can on pump gas because next year i want to build a boost motor.

What's your compression now? 11:1 is rather high to get away with on pump gas, your tune has to be dead nutz on

whats the compression ratio on those pistons? i have 9 to 1 on the hypertech pistons i got now. and i should be able to run up to 12.5 to 1 on pump gas but thats the limit.....

with 60cc cumbustion chambers you won't get close to 11 to 1 at all on a 302 stroke you'll need a dome piston....I have AFR 185'S with 58 cc chambers and have a .200 kieth black .030 dome pistons........they are awesome and they are not forged but call kieth black they have sprayed up to 400 shots on them with no problem..I'm spraying a 100 shot on them...the special silocon tech they use on them allows for a much more durable piston then the standard cheapy hyperutectic design but with the 58 cc heads it yields me 11 to 1 exactlly and I run pump gas no problem with never any pinging as the aluminum heads will allow you to run such higher compression. I reccommend the .200 dome pistons any day as it'll allow pump gas no prob with aluminim heads and the power gain is definatelly noticable..on a similar set up with flat tops I went 12.79 @105...switching to a slightly bigger cam and these pistons..I went 12.24 @ 111.59

you need these.....

they are TRW / Speed-Pro forged .440 dome, they will put you where you need to be.

http://store.summitracing.com/partde...p;autoview=sku

Deck height: 8.206 in. Deck clearance: 0.016 in. Skirt clearance: 0.0050 in. Weight: 572g. Approximate compression ratios: 12.09:1 with 54.5cc, 11.41:1 with 58.2cc, 11.04:1 with 60.4cc, 10.64:1 with 63cc, and 9.83:1 with 69cc head.

i had these with milled 69 351w heads (approx 58cc) and the block was zero decked....... can you say 12:1 snarling beast?
