DUDE ITS NOT THE SAME, just because you worked on those motors says nothing about a 347 to a 331 in longevity, the biggest reason being they come from a completely different block then the I6 or I4, yea the ratio might be worse, but again completely diff blocks, im going with a 331 because its best for me and i believe it will last longer, as for 50,000 miles **** i plan on putting mine upwards of a 100,000, it's very possible, LOL all this from a question on heads, DID you know that a 383 stroker aka chevy has a ratio closer to 5.2!!!!! thats pretty damn bad if you ask me i dont really care about all of it anyway, why leave the extra 16 cubes on the table......well its a car for the street/track, longevity, you can only get so many tickets too, lol all im looking for is a good engine that will last and put me close to the 400rwhp mark Naturally aspirated, i think people need to respect people who make that much horse naturally aspirated, you have to spend some major $$$ to get numbers upwards of 400rwhp, at least to someone going to school full-time and working part time 6000$ or so on a motor is alot of money, all i really want is to waste any ls1 lt1 bit .........ch that decides he wants to pick on a mustang
You really need to listen to what Joel5.0 has to say he's right in this instance and didn't just fall off the turnuip truck yesturday sonny!!here is why...I'M ABOUT TO BUILD A 347 THE RIGHT WAY WHICH WILL last just as long as the 331..you need to understand that there are two ways to build a 347...uh yes there are......the one you talk of with the R:s RATIONALE IS BASED ON A 3.4 stroke, 5.4 rod and 4.030 bore and 1.090 compression height..which makes for an inefficient piston/ring/rod ratio design and results in a 1.58 rod ratio just like a 363 stroker......I'm going with quite possibly a BOSS block which it's big bore capability you can obtain a 347 along with a 1.63 rod ratio using a 3.250 inch stroke and a 5.315 connecting rod and a 4.125 inch piston and wha la you arrive at 347 with a 1.63 rod ratio = a 347 done right!!!! Taken from MM&FF JUNE 2007 ISSUE........If you really are going to spend 6000 and try to get a N/A car have over 400 rwhp.....why waste your money on stock blocks using a prayer and faith to hope they hold up to the task at hand[&:].......Build your house/motor upon a rock!!! and or sturdy foundation

Nothing wrong with Trickflow, they make good shyt.
Canfield has been having delivery delays lately. My friend had to wait 2 months for his.

Canfield
AFR
Trickflow
Edlebrock
RHS
Dart

all make very good heads.

Just didn't want you using that TFS Top-End kit.
Those are also 192cc Trickflows ......... you get 170cc heads with that kit.

yea, i really dont care who manufactures them as long as the damn things do what i want them to and do it good, do you guys think that setup that he suggested will push 400rwhp i told him i was looking for 380 to 400, i just dont want to get it all in and everything tuned, then dyno it and have 320 or something gay like that, i better be getting at least 380 at the wheels or im probably going to.........cry......lol, i have a tokiko lowering kit and its prettty damn stiff, those shocks and springs will be able to handle the 400+hp right???
My T5 will withstand that if im "nice" to it wont it, i mean if im in 3rd say and im crusin at oh 50 mph, then i nail it, im not going to be experiencing any breakage right?? i know there only rated to like 235flbs of torque but it'll be ok for a little while wont it?

1. There is no F'N way you are going to see 400rwhp(that means the motor would need to make at least 460 at the crank)with that set up in my opinion...to see anything closethose numbers you are going to have to use some damn good heads...like Ported Trick Flow Heads from Fox Lake orAFR 205s..plus you are going to need a Monster Cam....like something with over 570 lift..

2. My T5 can handle the power in my Sig and has all summer...but I dont power shift it or launch it at high revs...plus it has beenrebuilt and I run a Centerforce Dual Friction Clutch..heavy duty Throw out bearing retainer etc etc...

But he does ...... could you imagine a 306 engine, in a DD, making 355 RWHP, running 11.31 in the 1/4, with all its accessories (A/C, P/S, etc) and 20+ MPG's; as an example? Would he be able to do better with a 331 setup?.......

I know that you know your stuff so I will defer to your expertise...I just dont think he will see 400rwhp without ported heads and a monster cam....
