yea sometimes that wont work, its better to have your hand right on the distributor as you are cranking it...**** man, i was working on my bronco and i had the same problem...5.0 bronco btw, and i had just done plugs, wires, cap, rotor, starter solenoid, and i thikn the coil, not sure, but something happened, and at the moment it wasnt getting spark, and i was jumping the starter solenoid with my hand on the coil plug, and that **** flet like i was struck by lightning man, got i was about to call 911, i couldnt move my arm for literally 30 minutes, it hit me so hard, like i couldnt move my fingers, it freaked me out pretty good, and tingled the rest of the day
I could only imagine the pain. Ive been shocked by my gas powered scooters plug and that jolted me pretty good.

But that is a good/painful way to see if your coil is sending spark.

Ouch man, haven't been shocked that bad. That feeling sucks though, while it's happening your telling your hand to let go but it won't. Well I'll try that coil wire trick, but I did have the screw driver on the coil where the coil wire plugs into and nothing. Anyways I'll let you know how it goes, I'll check the distibutor as well. Thanks and if you think of anything else that may be ****ed, let me know. Thanks for your help

well if you had a peice of metal, like a little rod, you could put that into the coil wire so one ond of the wire is on the coil and unplug the other end from the cap, and put the rod in that end and put the rod near the block or head, and see if you see a spark, you may shock the **** out of yourself

Lol, I tried dangling it over the valve cover today no luck. Weird. Tomorrow I'm going to take a Volt meter to the plug in for the TFI control module. See if that is getting any battery power, maybe wires got screwed somehow. Next check and see if the distributor rotor is spinning when the engine cranks, I heard on rare occasions they can stop. But if there is no spark from the coil I don't think that would matter. If nothing works then I guess I'll have to tow it somewhere next year.

you cant do it on the valve cover, you have to do it on the block or the head, something bare metal

So, im not going to read the random bull**** posted in this thread because the first 4 replys made my brain hurt...

its not your TFI module, and had you asked in the first place you would have found out that the TFI system was upgraded and modified for the 94-95 cars.
get your hands on another distributor.... my money is on the pickup coil inside

I am not sure if its the same distributor. I can check. It is a 92 Cougar. I tried the coil dangling over the heads and still no spark from the coil. I checked the plug in to the TFI module with a volt meter and the ignition on. No reading what so ever, I tried each prong. I checked the rotar in the distbibutor and that is turning. So my next question is if it is the pickup coil inside the disributor, wouldn't there still be a spark from the MSD coil???? I know the 94-95 tfi system is different, but the guy I was talking to at the local shop didn't know that. Thanks again.
