Tranny question for you pros
Hello. I just helped my friend 94yellow50 do the t-5 Swap! WOW easy! But he had a 94 donor car so it was no questions about fitment. I how ever have the t-5 out of a fox, i was wandering if i bought a fox bellhousing, and fox driveshaft if it would all still work out or what all i would need to do differnet since it is out of a fox? Thanks

Ok, anyone else. Also when im buying parts do I search for 1995 mustang parts, IE (flywheel, clutch, throwout, pilot,) or do i search for a fox since its a fox tranny? Or does it matter?

I know the tranny, clutch, etc. are compatible. The only thing I am not sure about is the driveshaft. I know for a fact an SN95 guy should know for certain.

im pretty sure that they bell housing and trans for the sn's are specific to them. cuz of the redesign of the car and the interior being different (dash back further) the bell is a bit "deeper" and the input shaft is longer. i could be wrong but im pretty sure thats right. im sure adder will point ya in the right direction if all of us are way off

Im pretty sure it is the same, because isn't the wheel base, floorpans etc the same? Also the engine, tranny, and diff, being the same then the drive shaft should be the same length.

you can install a fox tranny in an sn-95 with the fox bellhousing but then you'll have to modify the crossmember to work........the sn-95 tranny has a longer input shaft because of the deeper bellhousing and if you used all the fox stuff then the drive shaft also would not be fully engaged in the output shafts splines like intended....what you should do if you get your hands on a fox tranny cheap enough is swap out the input shaft for a sn-95 one and get the matching bellhousing then all will come out fine and the crossmember will fit as intented on the tranny mount

swapping the input shaft should not take you more than 10 minutes. the best way to do it is to completely drain the tranny of ALL of its fluid, stand it on end (you will want to replace the output shaft seal later).
Unbolt the 4 bolts holding the input shaft bearing retainer in place, pull the retainer off. and gently pul the input shaft out. you will need to rotate it slightly.
The reason its so important to do this with the tranny facing up is because you do not want the blocker ring to move. once you have the old input shaft out, gently slide the new one in place. make sure, visualy, that the blocker ring has seated back around the gear. slide the bearing retainer back in place, and bolt it down. i do recommend using a small amount of RTV silicone to seal this to the case.
