Default Need advice: Donor vehicl

I have received a lot of positive input concerning the 351W and am wondering what a good donor vehicle would be for it. The intention is to put the motor and salvagable accessories into a 95 Mustang GT. Any advice is appreciated.

The only difference in the 351w through the years is the deck height, beefiness off the block and the heads. .

In 1974 and up the block had a taller deck height, which is more desireable for stroking but has lower compression stock. The earlier blocks have a beefier bottom end and weigh more. The heads are gonna make the biggest difference. If you are gonna modify them or replace them it don't really matter which year you get.

I would suggest and 351w for 1974 up, and try to find some heads with small combustion chambers and are pre-smog, you can use heads from any 289, 302, or 351w.

So, just look for a car from those years.

You would have to drill out the head bolt holes on 302-289 because they are 7/16" and 351w is 1/2",most of the aftermarket heads have 1/2" bolt holes so they fit both 289-302 and 351w's. The best motor to start with would probably be the 94-96 lightning, they allready have the GT-40 heads on them.

It would be great to be able to get the Bronco from you, but Oklahoma is a bit far of a walk, and I am looking to keep the cost of the donor vehicle down since I would mostly be scrapping it. Probably go the boneyard route.
