bench bleeding a master cylinder
I need to find out if I can bench bleed a master cylinder with solid plugs instead of a plug that has a hose going back into the resovoir. The MC came with the solid plugs, where the brake lines would normally go. Anyone ever bleed a MC with this type of set-up, and do I put the cap on when I use the big screwdriver and depress the piston.

It is possible to put it on and then bleed the master just like you would do the wheel cylinder. Fill it up, cracka line at the master, have a buddy step on the brakes slowly, once down tighten it up. Have the buddy put up the pedal, then do it again till you have good flow. Then do the other line. Make sure you wrap a rag down under and around do you do spray/drip fluid all over the place. Then you should be able to bleed the brakes the regular way at the wheels.

i just did mine with the plugs last week true it is better to use the lines but it will work with the plugs. fill up the res and begin to pump up the res. when it starts to build pressure hold in on the plunger and bleed the plugs tighten the plugs then release the plunger. after you get all the air out you then remove the plugs. after you put all the line on go to each wheel and bleed each line. it is easier than you think. hope this helped. by the way DO NOT MOUNT THEN BLEED!!!! bleed on the bench........

I've also bench bled masters using the tubes and holding fingers over the ports.
