Default IDLE TROUBLE

I recently put in headers and the EGR tube didnt fit so I crimped it on accident and put it in to make it work. We'll now the car idles at like 2k, I dont think its the EGR valve because i just put in a new one, but I think it is the tube. Is that probably what the problem is? and should I just make a new tube out of copper.

Please help, I havnt been able to get the car running right for like 2 weeks

Thanks

I dont know what kinda effect that could have on your smog pump, and your smog pump does have vacuum lines running to it, but really Im talkin outta my *** cause I dont know what crimpin the line will do. You can order a new line from Ford or have a new on made (or make yourself). If its runnin like that I would definately do something.

I ordered the new pipe, then crimped it, and I think that all the vacuum lines are secure on the smog stuff but I'll double check.

The EGR valve shouldn't-won't be open when the engine is cold.to see if the egr is causing the problem just pull the vacuum line off and see if it idles better.Usually a rolling idle is the idle air control motor on the throttle body or a sludged up throttle body.try turning up the idle just a little with the screw on the throttle arm.

Yea, i just put new headers on so I'm thinking that with the increased air flow both in and out, the engine just is running faster, I replaced the EGR as well so I'll do that tomorrow and see.

Could there be a vacuum leak as well? and if so, where are the most common places?

You need to find the leak first. Use carb cleaner (safer) or wd40 (not as safe) and spray around all vacuum hoses and connections, egr valve, pretty much everywhere after the throttle body. If the idle changes where your spraying, then you found your leak.
