Default not firing up fast enough!!

When I start my car It turns over for about 5-8 seconds before is fires up. Is this not typical for an 89? And if not what can I do to fix the problem?

you need to check all ignition componentslike worn plugs.....but I might lead towards carbon build up in the intake and cumbustion chambers...also check fuel pressure with a gauge and make sure no leak down is occurring

Cycle the key on/off 2 or 3 times and see if it fires right up. If so, most likely the f/p is leaking down or an injector.

Like my ZX2's is doing right now
At least the Mustang's fuel pump job didn't involve rust [>:]
