Default How to Bleed Power Steering

Just changed pump, but the Bleeding instructions were unclear. I think I need to disconnect return line at pump bottom then plug the bottom of pump where return line connects. Is this the right hose to disconnect?

No need to disconnect any hoses, fill it, start engine, keep pump w/out cap, raise front of car, move steering wheel all the way to the right, all the way to the left, center it, check fluid and fill to max level..... repeat steering wheel rotation, let it idle for 2 minutes, repeat steering wheel rotation from side to side..... you're done!

There will be some whining from the pump for a while, until the system auto-purges itself from the little air it could have in the system. If you want to replace the fluid in the system.... remove return hose and put its end in an empty container, plug pump return hose nipple, add fluid, start the car, continue adding fluid until the one out of the return hose is clean.

I did it wrong, I disconnected return hose where it connects at bottom of radiator. Also, I did let hose drain in pan while I poured in Fluid and cranked pulley around. I am going to drain and bleed system the correct way to be on safe side. Thanks alot man!

So i should start engine while return hose is disconnected. I thought i would have to remove belt again and crank pulley by hand.

all you really need to do is fill it up and before starting it turn it lock to lock about 20 times and after that check level and start it up and most of the air should of been purged

I tried draining and bleeding again with return hose disconnected and pump end fitting pluged. Then I started it up and the whole fluid resevoir shot out in like 10 seconds i threw more in a it frucken went everywhere, wasted a whole dam quart of Syn. PS fluid. A said "F" it and reconnected the return hose filled resevoir started up and turn wheel side to side 20 times and idled for couple minutes. What a wast of time, should of left it alone.

Another way without starting the car..

Just take the belt off, unhook the return line and aim ittoward a bucket, rotate the pulley by hand to cycle the fluid... much slower but manageable.
