Default Cam Choice

i got an 85 mustang with a 5.0 in it and a t-5 trans. i have a 625 cfm holley 4bbl carb, an edelbrock performer rpm intake manifold, underdrive pulleys, Full exhaust w/ no cats (headers,H-pipe,Flowmasters), Msd 6a Ignition. i was jus wondering what cam would make the best sounding idle and get me the most power. in the near future im planning on porting and polishing the heads replacing the lifters and spings.

if your going to use stock heads then going over 500 lift on the cam isn't really gonna help..I switched from a b cam to an f-cam with no improvement in et or mph[&:]

the green mustang in my sig was the one I did this experiment with and it has stock e7te heads with bowl work and the exhaust ports ported and thermactor bumps removed and all work polished and it has roller rockers and to date best run was a 13.69 @99mph

well with stock heads and stock cam the rpm manifold is not really a benifit to you..unless you atch a cam to the power band of the intake and get a decent set of heads on the car the cam won't help all that much..there is a saying on here...stock heads..stock cam = stock motor performance...the stock components were designed around the stock parts[&:]
