Default Brake pads

Do the tabs on brake pads serve any purpose after they are installed. You have the two long caliper bolts that go through the pad. Reason for asking is i'm having a hell of time with my new prostars, the old prostar xp's are different inside the wheel. With the new prostars, the inside of wheel is rubbing the brake pad tabs. Backspacing is same as the other wheel also.

are you sure they are rubbing the tabs and not the caliper itself? i think the tabs slide in the caliper. i had weld draglites that rubbed the calipers unless i tightened the lug nuts little by little by little; it was weird.

No, its definatly the tabs, they are on the outside of caliper. i have five lug conversion. When your spinning the tires you can see the shreddedaluminum sticking to the tabs because of the anti squeal grease. I measured where the groove in wheels is and it is def the tabs. But anyway is it safe to run with out them. I cant believe the little **** i'm having problems with. I also found out my rear drums do not work at all. I was going to put another bead of silicone around my c-clip eleminators and thought i might see why my p brake isnt working. I had my daughter push the brake pedal and the brake shoe's do not move at all.

I know the exact problem your having!!! I had the same issue after installing my ebc pads and crossdrilled rotors...and I had welds on the front too...skinnies to be exact..I ground the edges of the pad retainer clips you are talking about until they cleared and then when I had the money I bought a set of MM spacers for aditional clearance 1/4 inch to be exact

Did you get the spacers with with the lugs. You need the long lug nuts with prostars, i have 3 inch in back but normal size in front. I'm afraid if i dont get the spacers with lugs attached i wont have enough thread.

with the Maximum Motorsports 1/4 wheel spacers I had plenty of thread engagement still on the front and on thr rear I esed 3 inch studs with open ended lug nuts...haven't had a problem..I'm sure if you did what I did and the set up is similar then you'll be fine
