Default Starter Hanging up

I put a new starter in my car and now the starter hangs for 5 to 7 seconds. This satrter has an additional post to wire up and I hooked it to the same lead as the main power lead. The starter is a mini torque starter as well. Anyone else have problems with this type of starter and what was the fix for it. Would a shim kit possible help?

usually on a set up like that the load carring heavy gauge wire goes to a constant 12 volt source and the small hook up on the selonoid goes to a hot in crank only voltage source..but without looking at the actual case/starter it 's a little tough to vision it.....but with the starter mounted selonoid you usually don't need the redundancy of the femder mounted one and the wire that goes down to the starter you can flip it to the constant hot side.

right now I have the non constant 12 volt source (key turns +12 volts on when cranking) connected to the solinoid positive side of the starter, is that wired properly.
