Default Catalyctic Converter Shield

It keeps comming apart, welded it together atleast 2-3 times. I'm wondering can i take this off or will i risk burning a whole through my floor or even catching the car on fire?

I wouldn't.I know the cats on my Pypes x are tiny with just a thin piece of steel for a heat shield, but I guess that's all they need. Are they stock cats? If not, since it seems you can weld, maybe welding in a new set would bethe way to go.

I ripped the heat shield off mine. No problems. Ford dealer told me it's basically useless. If worse comes to worse, delete the cat altogether.
