If you are going to drop the ac and smog, if i were you i would go the route i took. Order the Ford Racing a/c delete kit from summit, and move your power steering pump up into the a/c location. You can try and just run a short belt, but you will have to get that thing tight or the belt will end up hitting itself. No matter how you run it, it will always be dangerously close. Search on here for belt routing, youll get a couple ofpics.

I have another question regarding removing the smog pump, how is the computer affected by this? Does it know that its been removed and account for that, or does it still adjust fuel/air curves based on the pump still being there. IF it does, is there a chip, or something that can be done to fix this?

Just deleting your smog pump you will be fine. As far as a complete delete as far as removing the smog pump, the hoses, the pipe that runs from head to head and from cross pipe back to the smog pump, and air bypass and air diverter solenoid is a different story. Depends on what you are gonna do.To delete just the smog pump just bypassing it with a shorter belt you will be just fine. Does your car have cats? If you do keep the smog pump, by deleting it you are just shortening the life of the cats, although theyre prolly already plugged up.

Been looking at belt routing online and different sizes. I don't have my AC or SMOG hooked up on my ride. Just junk clogging up my engine as far as I'm concerned. I live in FL so no emm. inspections. Don't need the AC, its just my weekend warrior. So can I just drop the smog, buy a shorter belt, and get a dummy pully for the AC. I want them both gone without re-positioning the PS. Pondering on what to do. I really don't want dangerously close belts, I'd rather have a dummy then be one.

I know you said you dont want to do that but if you have your a/c unhooked and its just clogging up your engine, pull it off. Get that delete kit its only 40 bucks. With that you wont have to worry bout anything. Thats how mine is set up. No smog, no a/c. With the delete kit, everything works. But you can reposition your tensioner or yes get a dummy pully, but there again your are still heading toward just getting the delete kit.

-Pull the smog pump out; including all lines
-plug all the vac. lines,
-and plug the port on the back of the heads

I may have missed something, but that's off the top of my head.
