yea if you are hearing a girnding then its your starter.. you could try hitting it with a hammer a couple times to knock it loose... if it doesnt work just get a new one.

The battery dead and a bad starter are two different problems.
Which is it?
Dead battery?
Bad starter?

If your battery is going dead when the car sits a new starter will not help that.
With everything turned off and the doors closed and the hood light unplugged.
This is called checking for a draw:
Disconnect the negative battery cable and hook a test light between the negative cable end and the batteries negative post. The light should not light up brightly. A little dim is ok but a bright light would indicate a current draw. You need to find what is on or shorted.

If the starter is worn out and drawing a lot of ampsmaking itseem like the battery is dead?

WHICH IS IT?

So did you replace the battery and alt because they were bad or because you thought that may fix your problem?

A dragging starter will draw up to three times the current it normally needs to turn over. Take it out, clean it, have it bench tested.

i replaced the battery and alternator cuz the battery kept dying.
i replaced the one (battery) it was sold to me with and it died like in two days.
i replaced it again and bought a new alternator. the battery has lasted
for a good while now (~a week). i know think it`s the starter
because of the noise i keep hearing, and the fact that my dad couldnt start it a day agao and i started it yesterday on 3
non-consecutive ocations.

what do you mean by hood light? how do you uninstall it?

THE PROPER WAY TO check for a parasitic draw is to use a multimeter set to the amps function.....and why not a test light???? because when you have a draw of lets say slightly over a 100 milliamps vs the safe max spec of 25-50 milliamp..then it'll be very difficult to determine if you've eliminated all of the draw....a test light will work for a large draw but not very accurate for small ones......so pull out your ammeter and remove the neg battery terminal and hook the multimeter/ammeter in series and if there is no draw on the battery at rest you should get a reading of 25-50 milliamps max.....make sure all doors are shut..glove box light and trunk light off and sunvisor lights off and under the hood light unplugged when checking for a parasitic draw

Very small/milliamp draw will not kill the battery over afew daysof sitting.
If you only have a test light it will work fine.
