Best way to clean Cylinder Heads?

RE: Best way to clean Cylinder Heads?
i always liked to grab a few cans of carb cleaner (walmart is the cheapest place they are 1.24 a can and it doesnt leave a residue) and then stop at the self serve car wash @ about 10:00 at night. high pressure + carb cleaner = pretty clean.
or you could not be a cheap skate and drop them off at your local machine shop and ask them to hot tank em for ya

As for cleaning cylinder heads, hot tanking is the best method. If theyre really rusty, bead blasting is the best. But after you bead blast you need to paint them right away or theyll start to corrode all over again.

yea i work at a machine shop, we usually just put them in a highpressure cleaner... its about 250*, and spins the part so it all gets cleaned... if they dont come out good enough, usually they do... we soak them in carbcleaner,
beadblasting/glassbeading heads kinda sucks... lota places for the shot to get stuck in... we dont do that much at all
