Default E-303 w/ 1.7 rockers or F-303 w/ 1.6's?

I have a 93 LX with pedestal mount AFR 165's and an E-cam. I am currently running 1.6 roller rockers. The power drops off at about 5200. My question is if I keep the E-cam and get some 1.7 rockers, will I be able to rev to 6500? I did the math and the lift with an E-303 and 1.7 rockers would be about .532. Am I better off keeping the E cam, or swapping to an F-303, with .512 lift? Also, what about piston to valve clearance? I think the combustion chambers on the heads are 58cc.

1.7 rockers shouldn't change your RPM band. I believe revs come from duration and rockers don't change duration. Overall I'd say you'd be better off going to a dual pattern cam.

if your e cam falls flat at that range....Id suspect a valvetrain issue?? when you put the e-cam in did you install the correct springs or have the afr heads springs tested and compared to required spec?? anyway I like the f-cam in my 92 and I shift at right around 6200 rpms according to the tac in 1st and 2nd and around 5800 in 3rd

holy ****... u mean someone else is tryin to tell ppl to check the damn springs too? even if their "good to .600 lift" lol good ****

yea wuts up w. the springs, e cam's should pull a little higher then that, is it installed straight up or what?

i think you need to look at the springs and how the cam is installed/degree'd

as for the f cam and 1.6s, and the e cam and 1.7s and PTV... we cant answer that for you, you need to check that yourself, each engine is gonna be differant, to some degree.

i also think IF you do a cam swap to get a dual pattern cam, not a letter cam, but now thats just opinion, fact is, letter cams do make power... but there is newer technology out there, that i think should be taken advantage of

i think right now you should dyno the car, and tell us if it looks like all hell breaks loose at 5200, right now i suspect valve train like mjr, i say you get what you have working good, and then go from there

part of your rpm band comes from the duration of the cam. if your wanting to rev it some and stay hydraulic i would suggest looking into better cams than the lame *** alphabet cams.

Could it be my intake holding me back? I have the old style Edelbrock Performer, but I have a Professional Products Typhoon in the mail.

TFS Stage 2 or 3 cam... more than likely it will require the pistons to be flycut!
