do you really think 4 pins holding 2 lateral bars will do anything to keep the entire main webbing/valley to split? It will not. 302 and 351 blocks split from the main webbings around the main cap holes up through the lifter valley. the main webs are just not thick/strong enough to support high HP and high reving stresses. a main girdle may help, but there are plenty of pics online of blocks with supports splitting, and all the main support does is to help keep your rotating assembly off of the track when it does go boom.

ya gotta wonder if between main girdle and the valley girdle if it would really help. i'd like to think it would add "x" amount of HP capability

*shrugs*

Actually the blocks split in the valley. the main girdle helps alot. we made over 800 rwhp on a stock block for two years with out breaking the block. we uped the bost and then yes it went. the blocks break in the valley. our block broke from the valley to the mains,( not every main was cracked0 the main girdle kept our whole assembly in perfect condition)

If you have a main girdle then the block will split from the top. The main girdle acts as a hinge to transfer the stress because it has happened to me before.

The quality of the build, RPM, and time spent at that RPM are big factors in blocks being able to hold power or not.

On a stock block, they do not start cracking at the valley. They start at the weak main areas.

As for a valley girdle, it is not going to hurt you, but I do think think it is going to help you much.

Either way, the intake does a fairly good job of being a "valley girdle" anyways.
