Default T5 Tranny

Should I switch from the t5 to a 6 speed tranny? Will I get better highway MPG or is there any advantages? I have no problems from the t5 but I do get ALOT of heat from the center console. I was thinking it was the tranny but the guy at the dealership said he didn't think it was coming from the tranny.
Any ideas on the heat would be a big help to. My engine temp was running high but I cutout the holes in my Cobra R hood and it helped alot. Its running a little high in the normal range.

um no it isnt the trans. it is just coming in cause you have no insulation around the shifter from what i am guessing. and if you car is running a bit hot check your coolant level. get a new radiator aka aluminum at least a dual core, and a new thermostat.

so find out why it's running hot!! t-stat, radiator, water pump....coolant leak??? when does it run hot.. at idle...clutch fan issue??? as for the 6 speed..leavr it a 5 speed the 6 speed will cost you an arm and a leg....the heat through the shifter is from the h-pipe cause the shifter rubber/accordian boot is probably gone or torn

The transmission could be low on fluid too. That will cause the shifter to get hot also, but if you had it checked then I'm sure that's not it.
